Who We Are

Who we are:
  • AGMC has existed for over 50 years.  It is dedicated to the expansion of knowledge in the geological sciences and related metal, mineral and lapidary arts by offering adult, family, and youth activities.
  • At approximately 300 members, AGMC is the largest and most active gem and mineral club in North Texas.
  • AGMC is fortunate to be a self-supporting entity, thus, is not required to seek external financial donations. We are, however, eager to partner with friends who might be willing to provide guidance, mentorship, and direction to further AGMC's core goals and interests.
What we do:
  • AGMC sponsors field trips to search out rocks/minerals; to visit museums/exhibits; and occasionally present or exhibit to interested organizations.
  • We participate in area shows and sponsor our own annual show.  Our next annual show will be July 1-2, 2017.
  • AGMC operates a fully equipped lapidary workshop and classrooms, along with an extensive library.
  • Classes are taught most days of the week, for a nominal fee, by member volunteers.
  • Classes range from the lapidary arts (cabbing and faceting) to silversmithing, casting, glass fusing, enameling, and more
  • Occasional specialty classes are led by highly qualified external metalsmithing, lapidary and/or mineral experts.

AGMC is an active member of the South Central Federation of Mineral Societies and the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies and supports the AFMS Scholarship Program.
